Indoor Activities to Boost Your Mood and Improve Your Mental Health

The winter months can be challenging. Whether you are stuck inside due to the cold and rainy winter weather or just not feeling up to leaving the house; here are some activities you can do without leaving your home to improve your mood:

Move Your Body

Stretch or do yoga. Stretching for 5-10 minutes can help relax the body and the mind. Lay out your mat and do what feels good to your body. For a little bit more intense movement, you can do 20 jumping jacks or sit ups. Dance or listen to your favorite ‘feel-good’ song. Bonus points if you sing along! Getting some movement in can help refresh your body and mind and help you to feel more energized throughout the day.

Connect with a Loved One

If you are feeling more like relaxing instead of moving, call a friend or family member. Connecting with others is great for the soul. Creativity is also energizing and soul-feeding. Draw, journal or color. Get those creative juices flowing! Do a quick meditation. Meditation helps to ‘reset’ the mind so that you can feel your best.

Nourish your Vessel

Feeling like you are in need of nourishment? Have a healthy snack that you enjoy. Nourishing yourself is a treat for the body and mind. Drink a glass of water or- you can even cozy up with a cup of tea and a book or magazine. Hydrating is a great way to boost your mood and support your body and reading adds the benefit of exercising the brain and helping you to gain new and different perspectives.

Feel the Relief of Organization

Lastly, organizing your space is a great way to boost your mood. Try organizing a drawer or cabinet and getting rid of things that no longer serve you. Doing so helps to create space for things that are more aligned with your current place in your journey.

We hope these tips are an extra encouragement to look after yourself, even if you’re not able or feeling up to leaving home.
